After that, it was time to prep. I scuff sanded the entire dresser using 180 grit to make sure the new finish would adhere properly—especially around a damaged area on top that needed to be smoothed out for a more cozy home look created affordably and on a budget.
Meanwhile, I started planning the design. After scrolling Pinterest and looking at 2026 trends, one thing kept popping up:
